Another Stupid Isekai

Chapter 747 T.D.O.N.B: Split

As I was laying down there I started thinking about what if I had to return here soon for more seeds, and I immediately felt like it would be a horrible experience, with all the knowledge I now possessed about the whole journey.

"What If I could just drop an anchor here? It would be so much easier, so much better", I thought to myself. The surprising thing was that this thought didn\'t cause me to feel like it would end badly. It wasn\'t the same as in the case of other skills. There was a bit of anxiety, but it was the normal amount generated by me, being in a new, very much unknown, environment. I just didn\'t know the rules.

I began exploring that idea more and more, which led to me eventually trying. I closed my eyes as I did it, expecting a terrible outcome, but nothing happened, so I slowly opened them up.

- What happened? - asked The Great One, who was observing me carefully.

- I dropped an anchor here. I think I would be able to shadow walk us here and back - I explained.

- I still need to get the ship. Your ability shouldn\'t be the only option to get us here - he said.

- So how about I return, and you get the ship? - I proposed.

- Then you won\'t be able to plant the seeds. I already have suitable places prepared. Without me, you will have to look - he said.

- Then we wait - I shrugged my shoulders.

At the same moment ideas of planting the seeds on Earth, or some planets around were popping into my head, but I dismissed most of them. Earth was out of the question. Too much politics. The access was too easy.

- You need a suitable place because the seed won\'t create a dome immediately after planting. You need to upgrade it first. Barren lands are out of the question - he explained to me, still carefully watching.

- I said we will wait - I repeated myself, a bit frustrated that he was able to see through my thoughts.

He definitely didn\'t use his psionic abilities to do that, because I would feel it. It was just his ability to understand me, which allowed him to do that.

- Very well - he said after a moment.

His reaction made me sigh. Maybe I was reading into things too much, but I felt like he didn\'t want to let go of the control over the seeds. First, the ship, then his hesitance to agree to what I proposed, led me to phase such a feeling.

Not wasting any more time I shadow walked straight back to my home. Noise from the dining room made me believe my family was having either lunch or dinner. The time seemed to be too late for a breakfast, but my grasp over its flow in Arc was definitely distorted, so I wasn\'t sure.

- I\'m home - I shouted, then I went out of the kitchen to see them.

Just as I predicted, they all were gathered around the table testing on some tacos.

- Welcome back - said Celestine, and she smiled at me.

For a second, I had this urge to run to her and just kiss her, but I stopped myself.

- Hi, dad. How was the trip? - Tihana asked.

- Hello - said both Leonel and  Carmelita.

- Terrible, but we have what we went for, so that\'s good - I explained. - I need to wash first, so leave me some tacos.

After saying that, I rushed to the bathroom because I really wanted to take a shower, and I wasn\'t sure if they would leave something for me, so the time was ticking. I was very much hungry, starving even, and those tacos looked delicious.

I was so happy when I returned because they actually left some of me. So I sat down, then ate, moaning as I did, which made the kids laugh. Celestine probably made the food, because she looked proud of herself, while Tihana was simply disgusted by my behavior.

- It really had to be bad, if you are reacting like that - said my soon-to-be wife.

- Yes. I went for the seeds, and in that place, my powers didn\'t work partially. I mean... Some worked, and the others... I couldn\'t use them. I was weaker overall... It was so damn strange. That place is... It\'s weird - I said.

- Nice explanation dad - Tihana clearly was making fun of me.

- Shush! You know nothing John... I mean Tihana - I hissed at her.

- Enough you two - Celestine cut short our argument. - You should rest Peter. You look bad.

- Yeah... I was exhausted, but now I\'m feeling better. I\'m still gonna take a nap, but then I need to speak with Will and potentially others. We should prepare for guests I guess - I pointed out.

- Nice. It\'s a good moment for Leonel and Carmelita to meet with the crew - said Tihana.

The kids looked at one another. It was clear that they were excited. I bet Tihana already fed them with stories about important people in Arc.

- I\'ll make some more food then - Celestine offered. - I hope you will help me.

She looked at everybody except me as she was saying that.

- Yes! - said Carmelita.

She seemed excited by the possibility of cooking, or maybe it was the shopping part. After all an idea of a shop where you can buy almost if not anything would really stimulate one\'s mind. Especially in the case of the younger ones.

- Ok. Have fun then. I\'ll try to help when I\'m back from my nap - I informed them, and then headed straight up to my room to get some rest.

A bit of food, and a lack of the influence of that place where the World Tree was growing made me already in shape to do things normally, but I wanted a little bit of sleep. After all, I and The Great One traveled for days without stopping.

This build up fatigue, not only physical one, but also mental one, as my mind couldn\'t adjust to the change in basically everything. As soon as my head touched the pillow, I drifted away.
